Kierra Sheard is shining this year with
amazing opportunities. This gospel recording artist has her hands on many
business endeavors and I had the opportunity to interview Ms. Sheard. We
discussed her new Detroit radio show that can be heard via the iHeartRadio app
for listeners throughout the country, being a judge on BET’s Sunday’s Best, her
new album, the importance of an education, and much more. Here’s a few of
Sheard’s responses, and the full interview is above to hear!
SLBWunder: Alongside
the radio show, a few weeks ago you announced your new cd, Graceland, will be
out this July. What can we expect from your sound and direction of the album?
Kierra: My
goal for this record was to give Christian listeners and people who are already
in church an outlet to hear Jesus in a different way, and not in a traditional
way. And then not just catering to them, but I also want to cater to the
people who aren’t believers. I was taught that the wins to get to catch a fish
you have to send in some bait, and so I think that the tool that The Lord has
allowed me to use is to kind of have a different sound of music so they won’t
immediately identify it as Gospel…
SLBWunder: I will never forget a quote
you said which was, "being a Christian is not boring, it just keeps you out
of trouble.” What tips can you give to women and men who want to keep their
faith in tact, but also don't want to miss out on having a life outside of
church?
Kierra: Get
around people who want to be about Jesus as well. If you are around people who don’t
want to be saved then that’s gonna make it harder for you to try to be saved because
you’re being in a tug-of-war…understand the difference between religion and
relationship…
