This week was filled with brand new TV show premieres
with one of my favorite entertainers: Jennifer Lopez. The return of American Idol
aired on Wednesday and Thursday to begin the final journey of Idol’s
long run. Host Ryan Seacrest, judge’s Harry Connick Jr., Jennifer Lopez and
Keith Urban split the two-day premiere into four cities. Atlanta, Denver, Little
Rock, and San Francisco buzzed with rising talent, and I’ve already picked a few
favorites like La’Porsha, Cameron, and Tristan McIntosh. Having Lopez on TV in this kind of light is great because viewers get to see her personality every week, and it doesn't hurt that her fashion sense is insane. She brings a fresh presence to American Idol; probably takes the role as favorite judge easily. I always look forward to hearing her opinions about the contestants because she's living proof that all things are possible.
I think the real thrill I anticipated would be the new
drama, Shades of Blue, that Lopez stars alongside the great Ray Liotta. The premise of the show
is about Lopez (Harlee Santos) playing a Brooklyn cop who’s involved with other cops in dirty, police behaviors. The FBI follows Lopez’s character
for a month to conclude their suspicions of all the squad members, and will
not stop until Lopez (Santos) cooperates and becomes their informant. What immediately pulled me to the show
is Lopez's single mom storyline. She doesn’t take being a mom
lightly, and with the FBI leveraging Lopez's daughter to get her to comply-tugs at
my heartstrings. The script, action, and actors makes me love the
show already, and I can’t wait to see everything unfold.
I feel like this is
Jennifer Lopez’s season, and she's always been at the top of the game consistently; she's flourishing so beautifully, and I'm proud to be a fan! Tune in every week to watch American Idol(FOX) on Wednesday's at 8pm and Shades of Blue (NBC)Thursday's at 10pm.
Side note: J.Lo has a residency in Las Vegas titled ‘All I Have’ and if you can, check her out! Also, support her latest cd 'AKA' in stores now!
